☀️ RALLY REPORT: Fambridge Relaxation & The Great Ice Cream Chase!

North Essex Centre | White House Farm, Ferry Field | 3rd – 5th July 2026

If you were looking for the perfect definition of a classic British summer weekend, Fambridge was exactly the place to be! 

The rally officially opened on Thursday, with some units rolling in on Friday, and we were treated to absolutely glorious, unbroken sunshine from start to finish. It was fantastic to see everyone sitting outside, soaking up the rays and catching up.

Thursday and Friday were wonderfully relaxed "do-as-you-please" days, wrapping up each evening with everyone gathering together for a good old-fashioned chit-chat under the Essex sky.

🧀 A Ploughman’s Feast & An Ice Cream Rescue!

On Saturday, our fantastic marshals Joy, Mick, Julie, and Alan put on an absolute masterclass with a magnificent Ploughman’s lunch. The tables were loaded with an incredible spread of cheese, ham, fresh salad, pickles, and crisp French sticks. Nobody went hungry, that’s for sure!

Later that afternoon, while everyone was relaxing under the event tents, the unmistakable, nostalgic chimes of an ice-cream van echoed in the distance. Realising the van wasn't heading onto the field, Mick sprang into action! He jumped into his car, successfully chased down the ice cream van, and guided the driver right onto the site. It was an absolute triumph—nearly everyone enjoyed a cool treat, including our favourite four-legged rallier, Cody the dog! 🐾🍦

🥂 Milestones, Wine, and Mid-Decade Brainteasers

The afternoon grew even more special as we gathered for a momentous presentation. We had the absolute privilege of honouring Mary and Rodger with their incredible 500th Rally Award! To celebrate the milestone, Mary and Rodger generously brought out a couple of boxes of wine for the field to enjoy. A massive congratulations and a huge thank you to you both!

After Flag, it was time to test our collective memory with a "Through the Decades" quiz. The competition was fierce, the trivia was nostalgic, and it ended in a spectacular three-way tie! In true rally spirit, rather than fighting it out, the winning teams happily shared the prize sweets.

🕶️ The Verdict?

It was a truly great, peaceful, and thoroughly relaxing weekend from start to finish. A huge debt of gratitude goes to Joy, Mick, Julie, and Alan for all of their hard work behind the scenes to make it run so beautifully.

If you have ever organised an event for a club you know just how much work goes into making it happen.   So imagine an average club weekend then quadruple, quintuple or sextuple it.   Somewhere within those figures you will arrive at the 120+ units and 240+ people that attended this event.    It adds a whole new meaning to putting the kettle/urn on for tea or coffee for the attendees! A Dirty Weekend in Weely

 Event 27 : 4th-6th July 2025 For those that were wondering......  A “Dirty Weekend in Weely” was all about the film Dirty Dancing. Those that thought otherwise, you were so wrong!! In a changed venue to that originally advertised, Grange Farm at Thorpe-Le-Soken is a new site for us.  Set well away from any roads with just a train line in the distance, this lovely country side location is comprising of many acres nestled amongst crop growing farm land.  It hosts three separate ‘camping’ areas, these are “Oak”, Cherry Trees” and Brambles.  All were very well maintained with new and very clean toilet and shower blocks.  All pitches as far as I could see had EHU. Although a commercial site, it still has that small feeling and of being secluded in the wonderful Essex countryside.
