A Dirty Weekend in Weely

 Event 27 : 4th-6th July 2025

For those that were wondering......

A “Dirty Weekend in Weely” was all about the film Dirty Dancing.

Those that thought otherwise, you were so wrong!!

In a changed venue to that originally advertised, Grange Farm at Thorpe-Le-Soken is a new site for us.  Set well away from any roads with just a train line in the distance, this lovely country side location is comprising of many acres nestled amongst crop growing farm land.  It hosts three separate ‘camping’ areas, these are “Oak”, Cherry Trees” and Brambles.  All were very well maintained with new and very clean toilet and shower blocks.  All pitches as far as I could see had EHU.

Although a commercial site, it still has that small feeling and of being secluded in the wonderful Essex countryside.

There are some nice little touches of model birds dotted around all three sites.  Its things like this that show the owners care and make the site what it is, charming is a word I would use and feels about right.

On arrival our marshals for this weekend were Dave & Sandy assisted by Keith & Jane who warmly welcomed us.

We reversed onto our pitch with ease and had the option of EHU if we wanted it.

Once settled our marshals didn't waste any time in getting the social activities of this event started.

A communal BBQ on a Friday night?? This is not the norm, but hey it worked!

As we enjoyed our meals, Keith & Jane produced a jug of Pimms which was shared freely and added a nice touch to the BBQ.  Randomly Maz had baked some Chelsea buns which were also well received and provided a sweet desert.

While dining, Dave spotted an interesting weather phenomenon.  I know this as a ‘Sun Dog’ which to the best of my knowledge is two rainbow like spots each side of the sun.  All very unusual and rare.

With a mix of Humour, Pimms, Cake and Sundogs it all made for a good start to this weekend.

As our meals came to an end, we moved into the clubs modern marquee for an evening music quiz.

It was not long before feet were tapping and vocal chords were being exercised!  Some of the singing (if you can call it that) was interesting to say the least!!!  It was all good fun and an enjoyable evening.

And this was just Friday….

Saturday morning at 10am bacon rolls were served for those up and about.  The rest of the day was yours to explore the area or chill, what ever was your thing.

Saturday evening, Louise thanked our marshals and gave some upcoming club news.

The site owners coming over to introduce themselves and asking if we were enjoying the site was a nice touch.

Then onto the main event, Dirty Dancing!

Where had the ‘time of our lives’ and it appears no one puts baby in the corner!

Great fun evening, well done.

Once again our marshals provided a very full and entertaining weekend, thank you!

Also thank you to John & Tammy for their musical wizardry to keep us entertained.

This site is a great find and one where the owners enjoyed having us, I feel sure we will be back next year.

Our marshal Dave was a bit flustered at one point and had a bit of a wild hair moment!
