Bank Holiday Rally Report — A Weekend Packed with Fun, Laughter & a Few Surprises

With the bank holiday weekend in full swing and plenty happening on site, it didn’t take long for everyone to gather for the traditional Friday night natter and chatter. The buzz of conversation set the tone for what turned out to be a brilliantly entertaining few days.

Saturday morning greeted us with glorious sunshine and clear blue skies, perfect for the “planned ramble” — which proudly became the shortest walk in rally history!  A mighty 15 minutes of gentle strolling led us directly to The Stag Inn, where refreshments were flowing, bar meals were calling, and no one seemed in a hurry to ramble any further.

That evening, the event tents came alive with bingo hosted by Tanya and Sue, who delivered what can only be described as the worst rhyming bingo calls ever attempted — and somehow that made it absolutely brilliant. Who knew that half of two fat people was 33 and not 44?

🤣🤣🤣

Laughter echoed around the tents before Steve rounded off the night with a quiz that kept everyone guessing.

Sunday morning began with the unmistakable rumble of engines as the classic car rally rolled in. Over 100 gleaming vehicles lined up for everyone to admire.

A few of our ralliers even treated themselves to a proper Sunday roast at The Manor, which by all accounts was a delicious highlight. Others wandered off to meet the resident alpacas, who were more than happy to pose for photos and accept a bit of fuss.

Later that afternoon, we gathered for the flag, followed by tea and cakes, sharing stories, laughs, and reflections from the weekend so far.

Monday’s early flag meant plenty of time to explore the craft fair, browse the stalls, and enjoy the dog show, complete with some impressively loud town criers who made sure nobody missed a thing.

It was a fitting end to a wonderfully entertaining weekend — full of sunshine, silliness, good company, and memories already fuelling excitement for next year.

A heartfelt thank you to all our NECC ralliers, and especially to our marshals Steve, Tanya, Sue, and Barry for their hard work and good humour throughout the weekend.

Steve.
