Jurassic Lark

Event No 35H

2nd-16th August 2025

The Dorset Event was this year's summer holiday rally at Manor Farm Holiday Park.

This was a new venue for us and what a place it turned out to be!

Ideally situated within Charmouth itself, the beach was just a 10 minute walk away down a footpath. Also within 10 minutes walk were two pubs, a takeaway, convenience store, bakery, café and even a caravan shop!

The rally itself was being held on the back field of the site which had its own toilet and shower block, two water taps and electric hook-up for every unit.

The site was surrounded by trees and rolling hills in the distance.

Part of the rally included the use of the onsite swimming pool, which was a great hit with the children and some adults.

On arrival everyone was greeted with a smiling face and a cuppa; some definitely needed this after coming from as far afield as to he Yorkshire Dales and North Wales.

Help was on hand for anyone that needed it as the field was on a slope (it is Dorset after all). The site provided extra blocks and electric cables for anyone that required them.

This was very much a "do as you please" holiday as there was so much to do locally.  That said, some evening events were planned and included in the cost of the event.

We had a week 1 and week 2 Skottle tournament.

A special mention needs to be made to Amelia, aged 6 from the Avon centre who beat the adults hands down and was very happy with her prizes. Also, in week 2, Keith for winning again!! You will be playing left handed next time, Keith!

Week 1 was our communal dinner where the marshals provide the salads and accompaniments, the event goers just having to bring their cooked meats. This was a great evening with lots of food including chips. Everyone sat together, chatting away until it got dark.

Week 2 was our pancake night with various sugary and fruity toppings. There was one very excited girl who didn't stop talking about it! Belle, I really hoped you enjoyed your pancakes!

Whilst the rally was being held, Charmouth had their annual "Party in the Park" event.

From the site this was a 5 minute walk through the trees so a fair few of us packed our chairs and blankets and headed to the park.

What a great evening this turned out to be! One of the local pubs supplied a mobile bar and barbecue.  There were inflatables, sweet stalls and a raffle.   We danced in the park into the night and stumbled through the dark trees on the way back to the caravans.

A thoroughly enjoyable rally in an amazing location.

Thank you to all that attended. It was great to meet you all and look forward to seeing you again.

Louise, Cliff and Rachael.
