Good Game, Good Game Rally 17

Good Game, Good Game Rally 17

Pretty Thing Sy Osyth : 26th-28th April 2024

Even though St Osyth is only a few miles from home, we decided to attend this new venue to try it out.

Our local knowledge tells us that this site was only opened about 5 years ago and is set in a rural location.

On arrival the first thing we noticed was the well maintained entrance, it was blocked paved and new.  Once through the gate, Pitches with EHU, POD’s and new shower blocks  were visible, all looked new and well maintained.

The rally field is set just behind the commercial pitches but still centre to the facilities.

We were warmly welcomed by our marshals Maria and Stephen and shown to our pitch.  The field is square with a tree in the centre as a feature.

We parked up and started to enjoy being away in the ‘van’, this the first time since Easter.  We met friends we had not seen for awhile which was really nice, we also noticed some new people which was also nice.

Friday night it rained, I kind of like it raining while in the ‘van’, something about being warm and dry and hearing the pitter patter of rain drops on the roof.

Saturday we awoke to a slightly wet field and decided to visit Homestead caravan accessories which I just up the road.  We purchased a few bits, looked at the new bbq’s and caravans.. You know, the things you do while away

I broke the Cadac out for the first time this year and cooked our dinner on it.  There is something about sitting in a field flipping burgers watching others do the same.

Any way, In the evening I attended the Good Game quiz in the event tent, where it rained some more.

Maria and Stephen hosted the ‘Chase’ with Dave, Sandy, Dawn and myself being declared as Chasers.  Everyone grouped into teams where a list of questions were asked by Maria as in the TV programme.

A good fun evening under the tents was had with the winners receiving a box of chocolates.

Saturday night it rained some more, heavier this time, actually worryingly heavy…

Sunday morning I decided to visit the little  Anderson shelter café onsite to grab a couple of bacon rolls.  I was not sure what I expected to find but it was a pleasant surprise.  Nicely done out and looking very clean, the land owner stood proudly behind a counter taking orders.  A further surprise was the NECC members who had just popped in to visit eating breakfast.  More friends to shake hands with and chat.

The bacon rolls were very nice and recommended for our next visit.

Unfortunately the field had become waterlogged due to the exceptional rain, many needed a little help getting off on their way home.  I personally would like to thank Brian who help me.

Lovely site, well marshalled, thank you to Maria, Stephen, Dave and Sandy.
